This is a grid wall installation of video frame stills showing slight shifts in the position of my hands that hover over the open Arctic journals written in 1981. The sound element is a recording of my extemporaneous reading of daily travel notes written thirty years earlier while working in the central Canadian Arctic. As I stumble over my now unfamiliar cursive writing, the sound of my voice evokes heaviness with the weight of bureaucracy for a land with a relatively small population. The sound element of this installation is derived from my Arctic Journal Reading Performance documented at The Other Gallery, Banff Centre Alberta, March 21, 2009.
