Nature’s Winter Time 2
Galerie L’imagier, Gatineau Québec, 01/11 to 02/15, 2004
Themes: Rebirth & Renewal
Sound: A mix of water, birds and an intermittent piano note.
Gallery space: A long, narrow gallery space is enclosed to create a dynamic video projection installation.
Video and Elements:
Tree branches are distorted and reinvented by the floor angle of video projection along the right wall from the point of entry. Images of vegetation, birds and squirrels dynamically culminate at the far corner wall, where a plate holder holds a white cast of the artist’s abdomen upright on the floor. An empty white bowl, the inverse shape of the abdomen, sits on the floor beside the caste. On the opposite wall, flickering video light reflects off tinfoil-covered windows, engulfing visitors as they turn within this dynamic. Visitors enter into this experience to complete the meaning with their own interpretations.
“The metaphorical theme of wintertime is explored in this floor installation that suggests the dynamic and universal process of disintegration and becoming.”
