Description: Trees Interrupted Installation comprises a painting of tree branches across twelve loosely connected watercolour paper panels. While each paper panel is complete in itself, it simultaneously contributes to the completed whole.
The twelve panels of watercolour paper were originally installed as a loosely connected grid suspended from the ceiling and slightly out from the wall to allow movement with the natural air currents of the room. A grove of pine trees is painted across all twelve panels, with each panel in itself is also complete. The scale and spaces between panels engage visitor movement in order to perceive the whole.
In 2022, Trees Interrupted became part of the City of Ottawa Art Collection. In 2024, it was installed at the Municipality Elections Office. Each watercolour panel is floated in a frame and hung on the wall in the grid described.
